The Rockingham County Amateur Radio Club Inc was founded in December 2002 and was formally known as RATTS (Rockingham Amateur To Talk Society). Our Club Members consist of Amateur Radio Operators throughout Rockingham County, North Carolina. The RCARC meets the 3rd Tuesday night of every month at the Red Cross Building located between Reidsville and Eden on Hwy 14 at 7:00PM. Everyone is invited to join us. REIDSVILLE Rev. Henry Morrison Pollock, LTC US Army Retired, 84, of 451 Straw House Rd. went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday (May 2, 2013) at the Hospice Home of Rockingham Co.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday (May 5, 2013) at First United Methodist Church and burial will follow in Lowes United Methodist Church Cemetery with full Military Rites.
A native of Connellsville, PA, he was a son of the late Henry Fulton and Edna Maragarete Florence Pollock and had lived in Reidsville for the past 28 years. Henry graduated from Asbury College in KY and received his Master's Degree from Duke University Divinity School and did 1 year of graduate research at Duke University. He was an elder in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church for 44 years, 20 years of that as a US Army Chaplain. Rev. Pollock served abroad in Thailand, Korea, Germany, and Alaska and was a Vietnam Veteran and he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation with 3 Oak Leaves, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon II, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Army Commendation Medal . Henry served 24 years in the local United Methodist church and upon his retirement, he was made Minister Emeritus and was a dedicated scouter at home and abroad for 64 years. He was awarded the coveted Silver Beaver Award, the James E. West Award, District Award of Merit, Order of the Arrow, Vigil Honor and served as Council Chaplain for many years and served on the Council Executive Board. Henry received the Cross and Flame and Torch Award and Governor Hunt awarded him the North Carolina Outstanding Volunteerism Award. He also served as Police Chaplain and Hospital Chaplin in Hickory and Reidsville. During his ministry, he served in several cities on the Salvation Army Board, soup Kitchen and other charitable programs. He was part of Clan Pollock in Scottish Heritage, a past president of the Rockingham Co. Amateur Radio Club and a Colonel in the N.C. State Militia. Henry dedicated his life to the service of God and above all, in helping his fellow man.
Surviving are his wife: Elizabeth Jean Stadler Pollock of the home; sons: Henry Stephen Pollock and wife: Kimberly of Reidsville, & Col. John Lewis Pollock and wife: Veronica of Wiesbaden, Germany; daughters: Elizabeth Ann Pollock and husband: Jeff Friedgood of Franklin, IN, & Rebecca Jean Pollock of Greensboro; Brothers: Rev. Robert F. Pollock of Amesville, OH, Rev. James S. Pollock of Johnson Citty, TN, & Rev. Charles L. Pollock of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren: Walt Boone of Atlanta, GA, & Aisling Mary Pollock of Wiesbaden, Germany.
The family will see friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday (May 4, 2013) at Citty Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to: First United Methodist Church 1520 S. Scales St. Reidsville, NC 27320. Online condolences may be made at www.cittyfh.com

Saturday Social: We now meet for RCARC Socials on the Saturday following our scheduled Tuesday Club Meeting.The Socials will be held at Santana's Restaurant located at 436 E. Stadium Dr in Eden. This is located in the former Meadows Greens Country Club across from Central Elementary School.Come out and enjoy our gathering. Menue consist of both American and Mexican foods. Reservations are NOT required however please let us know at the scheduled Club meeting of how many will be attending with you to the Social so we may have adequate space reserved.

Monday Night Net: is held on 146.85MHz PL 103.5 at 8:30PM Local time. This Net is held weekly with the first part of the Net being 'formal' with all RCARC news and announcements being listed. After the 'formal' there is always a general 'Ragchew' for everyone to make general comments. This Net is a lot of fun and full of information.
Tuesday Night 440 Net: The Tuesday Night 440 Net is held every Tuesday night with the exception of the third Tuesday which is the Club Meeting night on the W4BJF 443.975MHz Repeater at 8:00PM Local time courtesy of the Rockingham County Repeater Association. This Net is just a ole fashion general 'Ragchew' for anything that pops in the mind. ***The 440 Net has been suspended as of December 2011 for Repeater upgrade. We will have it back in service as soon as possible. Thanks, George WN4LTY and Dal W4YQY of the Rockingham Co Repeater Association.***
Thursday Night ARES Net: The Rockingham County ARES Net is held on Thursday nights at 8:30PM on the 147.345 PL 103.5 Repeater. The Net is for all ARES Members as well as anyone wanting to check in. It is a formal net and used for ARES & Skywarn business and announcements. Backup repeater in case of failure of the 147.345 will be the 146.850 repeater.
